IPL Redness / Pigmentation Reduction

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) devices emit multiple wavelengths of light that are absorbed by specific chromophores (pigments) in the skin, primarily melanin and haemoglobin.

IPL works by targeting excess melanin in the skin, which causes pigmentation irregularities like freckles and age spots. It also helps reduce redness associated with conditions like rosacea and can minimize the appearance of broken blood vessels. Additionally, IPL can stimulate collagen production, leading to improved skin texture and a more youthful appearance.

We use UltraLux Pro for IPL treatments, which is a very modern high-quality equipment with excellent safety record. All our staff are trained and certified to provide treatments, and we strictly follow treatment protocols.

How it works:

Pigmentation reduction: IPL delivers light energy that is absorbed by melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color. This energy breaks down the excess melanin, causing the pigmented areas to fade or lighten over time.

Redness reduction: IPL can target blood vessels, like those seen in rosacea or spider veins, by heating and coagulating them. The body then naturally removes these treated vessels, reducing the appearance of redness.

Collagen production stimulation: While not the primary mechanism, IPL can also stimulate collagen production in the skin, which can help improve skin texture and firmness.

Benefits of IPL treatment:

IPL effectively treats sunspots, age spots, and other signs of sun damage. IPL can significantly reduce the appearance of rosacea and other conditions that cause facial redness. By reducing pigmentation and stimulating collagen production, IPL can lead to a more even and smoother complexion. Increased collagen production can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

What to Expect After IPL Treatment:

After the treatment, the treated pigmentation may appear darker before it gradually fades and flakes off.

Redness and mild swelling:

Some redness and swelling is normal after treatment and usually subsides within a few hours to a few days.

Multiple sessions are typically needed: most people require a series of 3-6 IPL treatments spaced several weeks apart to achieve optimal results.
