Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a procedure that involves using a device with tiny needles to deliver controlled micro-injuries in the skin at an adjustable speed and depth of penetration. These micro-injuries stimulate the body’s natural healing process, leading to increased collagen and elastin production, which can improve the appearance of aging, wrinkles, uneven skin tone/texture, large pores, stretch marks, scars, and other skin concerns.
This procedure is uncomfortable and can be slightly painful. When the face is treated to a deeper level of 2-2.5mm, numbing cream is used prior to the procedure. After the treatment, one’s skin will feel warm and tingly for a short period of time. After the facial micro-needling, we will apply a facial mask and a healing serum/cream to enhance recovery. For at least a week following the treatment, the skin should be regularly hydrated with the special serum that we can supply.
For best results, treatments should be repeated at intervals of 4-8 weeks. Face (rejuvenation, fine wrinkles, pigmentation) treatments are done in 3-4 sessions 2-4 weeks apart, acne scar treatments are done in 4-6 sessions 4-6 weeks apart and stretch mark treatments are done in 4-6 sessions 6-8 weeks apart.
Microneedling can be combined with Platelet Rich Plasma (needled in or injected), and LED light therapy.
